Youth

Welcome to our

Youth page!

Here you will find all the information about our weekly groups, residentials, any upcoming special events, our schools work and about some of the collaborative work we do with other churches in our area.

At Waltham Chase Methodist Church, and the Meon Valley Methodist Circuit as a whole, we offer young people a safe space to explore the Christian faith and their own beliefs. Our youth groups are a place where young people can be authentically themselves and where everyone is welcome.

Monday Youth Club

School Yrs 6-9

Monday Youth Club (MYC) runs every Monday, during term time, from 7pm-8:30pm. Entry is £1 per person. The group runs alternating weeks at Waltham Chase Methodist Church and Shirrell Heath Methodist Church.

This group is a great opportunity to make friends and have a lot of fun with games, crafts and prizes. We discuss great questions from the young people and introduce what Christianity is all about.

Stay Curious try Alpha

Youth Alpha

School Yrs 8+

We run a Youth Alpha Course every Sunday evening from 7pm - 8:30pm!

This is an awesome opportunity to eat good food, have fun and explore life and faith and how those two things can work together.

Please contact us if you would like to join us for this so we can cater accordingly.

TOAST on Tuesdays

School Yrs 9-13

TOAST (Talking on a Spiritual Topic) runs during term time each Tuesday from 7:30pm-9pm in the basement at Waltham Chase Methodist.

Here we offer a time to go deeper and for young people to ask the big questions of life and faith (no question is wrong or silly!). Anyone is welcome to explore these with us and of course eat snacks along the way. Sometimes it might even be toast!

Bible Class

School Yrs 6+

Bible Class is run as part of our Sunday services. We meet as part of the congregation at 10:30am. Then, after an initial time of worship, we head down to the youth basement for class.

This is a time for young people to meet together with their friends, to ask questions, pray, eat snacks and explore the Bible. We look to learn who it is all about and find out if it is still relevant to us today!

Residentials

We run two brilliant residentials each year!

Each summer, we a group of young people attend the youth festival, Satellites. We spend four days camping together and sharing our faith journeys alongside thousands of other young people from around the UK, exploring the Christian faith, experiencing worship like never before, and encountering Jesus in new and exciting ways!

Every October half term, our youth also have the opportunity to attend a weekend away, along with youth groups from other churches in the surrounding area. For more information about this year's trip, check out our youth specific residential Instagram and Facebook Pages!

Please also check out the gallery to view photos of some of our past trips!

Schools

We work closely with our local primary schools: St John the Baptist Church of England Primary School and Wickham Church of England Primary.

In partnership with Southampton City Mission we run lunchtime clubs, help with school trips, deliver open-the-book assemblies, assist with Year 6 productions, support R.E lessons and collective worship.

Wildfire Youth Project

We are proud to be part of the Wildfire Youth Project,  an organisation that brings together church youth groups from within and around Winchester, giving young people an opportunity to meet with one another and encounter God. The Wildfire Team is passionate about working together for the benefit of young people from all around this area. They gather resources and talents to run events such as youth training, school lunchtime clubs and girl’s self-esteem courses, as well as worship evenings, socials and retreats for young people.
